BrightRoots hosts signature events throughout the year that bring families, supporters, and community members together to celebrate children, raise awareness, and fund our programs. From festive community gatherings to elegant fundraising galas, our events offer meaningful ways to connect with the BrightRoots mission.

Spring Family Festival

Our annual Spring Family Festival is BrightRoots' biggest community event. Families enjoy live music, children's activity stations, face painting, a petting zoo, food trucks, a community resource fair, and program enrollment opportunities. Developmental screenings are available on a walk-in basis. Local organizations, healthcare providers, and family-serving agencies host information tables throughout the venue. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about BrightRoots programs while spending a fun day outdoors with your family.
Back-to-School Bash

All families welcome
Get your child ready for the school year at our annual Back-to-School Bash. The event features free backpack giveaways (while supplies last), kindergarten readiness activities, developmental screenings, haircuts, school supply distribution, and family resource connections. Children participate in hands-on learning stations designed to build excitement and confidence for the first day of school. Representatives from local school districts are on-site to answer enrollment questions.

The BrightRoots Annual Gala is our premier fundraising event, bringing together community leaders, business partners, and passionate supporters for an evening of celebration and impact. The evening features a cocktail reception, plated dinner, live entertainment, a silent and live auction, and inspiring program impact presentations. All proceeds support scholarships, program expansion, and new initiatives for the coming year. Sponsorship packages are available starting at $2,500.

Donate Gifts
Toys, clothing, household items
Our community-wide Holiday Giving Drive collects gifts, winter clothing, books, and household essentials for BrightRoots families during the holiday season. Drop-off sites are hosted at partner businesses, libraries, and community centers throughout the region. Wish lists for individual families are available beginning November 15, allowing donors to provide personalized gifts. Volunteers are needed to help sort, wrap, and deliver donations.

All events are free and open
BrightRoots celebrates the national Week of the Young Child with a full schedule of special activities for families, educators, and community members. Daily themes include Music Monday, Tasty Tuesday, Work Together Wednesday, Artsy Thursday, and Family Friday. Events include classroom open houses, community art projects, family sing-alongs, a teacher appreciation breakfast, and an advocacy day at the state capitol.
Recurring Community Events
In addition to our signature events, BrightRoots hosts ongoing community gatherings throughout the year:
- Family Story Time -- Every Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the BrightRoots Library. Free and open to all families with young children.
- Messy Play Mornings -- First Saturday of each month, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Sensory play stations for toddlers and preschoolers. No registration required.
- Parent Coffee Hour -- Second Friday of each month, 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. Informal gathering for parents to connect, share, and ask questions over coffee. Childcare provided.
- Community Garden Days -- Quarterly Saturday work days in the BrightRoots outdoor learning garden. Families plant, tend, and harvest together. All ages welcome.
Get Involved with Events
There are many ways to participate in BrightRoots events beyond attending:
- Volunteer: Help with setup, activity stations, registration, food service, photography, and cleanup at any event. Sign up through our volunteer page.
- Sponsor: Underwrite a specific event or become an event-level sponsor. Sponsorship packages include branding, tickets, and recognition. Contact us for details.
- Donate: Contribute auction items, raffle prizes, or in-kind goods and services for our events. Contact events@brightroots.org.
- Spread the Word: Share event information with your network, post on social media, and invite friends and neighbors.
