Comprehensive early childhood programs designed for every stage of development.
Programs
BrightRoots offers a comprehensive suite of programs designed to support the healthy development of children from birth through age five. Every program is grounded in evidence-based practices, delivered by certified early childhood professionals, and built around the belief that every child deserves a strong start. Whether you are a new parent navigating the first year, a caregiver looking for enrichment opportunities, or an educator seeking to deepen your professional skills, BrightRoots has a program tailored to your needs.
Parent & Caregiver Workshops
Our Parent & Caregiver Workshops are interactive, hands-on sessions that equip families with practical strategies for supporting their child's growth at home. Topics rotate seasonally and include language development techniques, positive discipline approaches, nutrition and healthy habits, fostering creativity through play, and building resilience in young children. Workshops are held every Saturday morning from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the BrightRoots Community Learning Center. Each session is facilitated by a licensed family educator and includes take-home activity kits so parents can continue the learning throughout the week. Childcare is provided on-site at no additional cost so that parents can focus fully on the session. Workshops are open to all parents, grandparents, foster parents, and caregivers regardless of whether their child is enrolled in other BrightRoots programs. Most workshops are offered free of charge thanks to community funding, though select specialty workshops may carry a nominal fee of $10 to $25 with scholarships available upon request.
Early Learning Programs
BrightRoots Early Learning Programs provide structured, play-based learning experiences for children at every stage of early development. Programs are divided into three age-based tracks to ensure developmentally appropriate instruction and support.
Infant Discovery (Ages 0-12 Months)
Infant Discovery sessions focus on sensory exploration, caregiver bonding, and foundational motor skill development. Activities include tummy time play circles, musical stimulation, texture and light exploration, and guided caregiver-infant interaction. Sessions meet twice weekly on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM. Caregivers participate alongside their infants throughout the entire session.
Toddler Explorers (Ages 1-2 Years)
Toddler Explorers builds on early curiosity with activities designed to encourage language acquisition, social interaction, and physical coordination. Children engage in story time, art projects, outdoor nature walks, simple cooperative games, and imaginative play stations. Sessions meet three times per week on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A gradual separation model helps toddlers build independence while maintaining a sense of security.
Preschool Readiness (Ages 3-5 Years)
The Preschool Readiness program prepares children for a smooth transition into kindergarten. The curriculum covers early literacy and numeracy, scientific inquiry, social-emotional learning, and self-regulation skills. Children participate in structured learning centers, group circle time, creative arts, outdoor play, and collaborative projects. This program runs Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Families receive quarterly progress reports and developmental milestone checklists to track their child's growth.
Professional Development
BrightRoots Professional Development programs are designed for early childhood educators, childcare providers, and allied professionals who want to enhance their skills and stay current with best practices. Our training catalog includes workshops on trauma-informed care, culturally responsive teaching, curriculum design for mixed-age classrooms, assessment and observation techniques, and integrating technology in early learning settings. Professional development sessions are offered in both half-day and full-day formats and can be attended in person or virtually. Participants earn continuing education units (CEUs) that count toward state licensing requirements. BrightRoots also partners with local colleges to offer credit-bearing coursework for educators pursuing credentials or advanced degrees.
Developmental Screenings
BrightRoots provides free developmental screenings for children ages birth through five using validated tools such as the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3) and the ASQ:SE-2 for social-emotional development. Screenings are conducted by trained child development specialists and take approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Results are shared with families during a private follow-up consultation, along with recommendations for next steps if any concerns are identified. Screenings are offered monthly on the first Wednesday of each month by appointment, as well as at community events throughout the year. Early identification of developmental delays is critical for connecting children with the support and services they need during the most formative years of brain development.

School Readiness
The School Readiness initiative is a targeted summer program that runs for six weeks each July and August, specifically designed for children entering kindergarten in the fall. The program focuses on building the academic, social, and self-care skills children need to thrive in a school environment. Daily activities include letter and number recognition practice, following multi-step directions, taking turns and sharing, managing personal belongings, and building stamina for a full school day. Sessions run Monday through Thursday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM and include a healthy lunch. Families attend a readiness celebration on the final day of the program where children showcase their portfolios and receive a personalized readiness report. The School Readiness program is offered at no cost and transportation assistance is available for families who need it.
